Two materials that absorb light instead of reflecting it.

Matte black reflects nothing. Neither does walnut; it holds light in its dark, irregular grain rather than allowing it to slip away. This is the only combination in the range where both materials work in the same direction, and the reason why this finish remains the most requested: it doesn't try to catch the eye; it occupies the space.

In terms of operation, stability is key. The 1200 W brings 0.9 L to temperature in a few minutes, then the electronics switch to regulation: the set point, adjustable to the nearest degree between 40 and 100 °C, is maintained and not just reached. This is what differentiates a kettle with adjustment from a kettle with a thermostat; yours won't drift while you're pouring.

Altitude compensation is worth a closer look. Water boils at a lower temperature when atmospheric pressure is low: at 1,000 meters, boiling occurs well before 100 °C. Without correction, a high set point becomes unattainable, and the kettle exhausts itself heating water that is already boiling. By entering your altitude, you align the displayed set point with what your coffee actually receives.

The rest is a matter of use: Guide mode for tried and tested benchmarks, a stopwatch to track contact time, keep warm for 15 to 60 minutes, scheduled programming so the water waits for you. And a gooseneck spout that makes no promises; it simply makes pouring entirely dependent on your hand.
